JA112 is an architectural yearbook. It is a special issue that seeks to decipher the subtext of the building designs published in Shinkenchiku and Jutakutokushu during 2018, and illustrate the trends and movements that they embody.
The social and environmental conditions that surround architecture become more complex every year, and to offer a summary of an entire year is no easy task. One of the objectives of this magazine, however, is to show the forms resulting from the explorations and challenges that occur amid these shifting conditions. By highlighting various architectural experiments in urban redevelopment, the “workplace,” the “home,” as well as changing forms of involvement by architects, we hope to offer a new mode of looking at things that transcends existing frameworks.
