Yoshiharu Tsukamoto Momoyo Kaijima Izu Book Cafe

The clients decided to move to Izu – one of the popular getaways and hot spring resorts – after the husband’s retirement. They asked for a house with a bookshop and a cafe where their neighbors and visitors can stop by. The site is located along the street which turns over a hundred degrees. The architects Yoshiharu Tsukamoto and Momoyo Kaijima took advantage of this curve and created a linear building that bends along the site and forms almost a U-shape. The rooms – two bedrooms, kitchen, cafe, bookshop, and atelier – are positioned in a sequence.
